It's amazing what you see when you do not look

Staring off into space, I see what others are saying.
I see their stories splash across the canvas in my mind.
I see the aromas and odors wafting all around me.
I see the unique taste of caffeine and sugar on my tongue.
I see everything that isn't seen, for there is no sight in seeing.

I see everything and yet nothing.
I can paint a song and sketch a flavor.
I can weld the beat of a drum.
I can spray paint a thought,
carve a scent into a block
and enamle emotion.
But I can't see.

I walk through life with eyes half-glazed over.
I see only what I need to in existence.
I see what I want, in my head,
be it scent, thought, sound, flavor, or emotion,
but reality escapes me.
No matter how I try,
reality is something I cannot see.
There is no sight in seeing.
